Haiti – A Heart for Children

While my husband was in Haiti, his heart was opened wide to the needs of the children there. He was amazed that these children, without clothing or food, or parents around, just flocked to the work site where they were at and stayed with them all day. It really stirred his desire to adopt again. Adoptions from Haiti can take so long. If that is what God has for us, we will wait. In the meantime, it spurred us on to get our home study updated. As we begin the process, we look forward to seeing what God has in store for us and for our family.

I am blessed to hear my husbands perspective. He shared with me that in our Western Culture, we wait. We wait for the perfect financial situation. We wait for children to be grown and gone. We wait…and when we are done waiting for a particular reason there will be new reasons for us to wait. As we wait, children wait. He says, “Why are we waiting? What is our reason? God is more than able to meet us, meet our needs, the needs of our children…and he will use us to meet the needs of another child who needs a forever family.”

He is so right! I love that God has wrecked my husband’s heart to see the needs of children. Lead on honey! I am trusting and following!

“Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you.” James 1:27
