(Monday)
With the plane climbing, the dark of night and full moon shone brightly out the window on my left. The first glimpse of the sun shone to the right as the clouds began to show pink and the sky turned lavender. I wonder at the work of His hands… So majestic, so glorious, truly too marvelous for words.
Sitting by a fellow believer (whom I just met), I could not help but continue to point at that bright full moon on one side and the rapidly changing sky on the other… “Look! Wow! That is so beautiful! God you are so amazing!”
“He alone has spread out the heavens and marches on the waves of the sea. He made all the stars – the Bear, Orion, the Pleiades, and the constellations of the southern sky. His great works are too marvelous to understand. He performs miracles without number.”
Job 9:8-10
“The heavens are telling of the glory of God; and their expanse is declaring the work of His hands.” Psalm 19:1
I am soaking in the wonder and the beauty – even from this airplane seat…I am praying. Praying blessing over my family these next two days I am gone…Traveling for work today and tomorrow… Wondering how fasting will work while I am on the road? Praying for Gods strength and wisdom. He is faithful.
My traveling companion (who is also the founder of the non-profit ministry that I work for) is on a Daniel Fast as well. She is very organized and has been on the island of Oahu for a few days already. Good thing too! She has made the time to set up what we need for healthy eating.
She greeted me at the airport followed with a salad smoothie. Good start to the day! I picked up a cup of tea and ate nuts and dried fruit for my breakfast. At one point we had to meet an adoption worker from another state…guess where we met? An Italian restaurant. I ordered a gluten free pasta with a vegan, onion and mushroom sauce. That was the most dense meal I have eaten since the fast began. I ate half the meal and put the rest away.
In the evening I had to order pizza for the support group we were facilitating…No problem! When it arrived I was reminded about how delicious pizza smelled. I thanked God for olfactory senses and ate my edamame and fresh apples. Which were very tasty. It seemed like my sense of taste is heightening the cleaner I eat.
We prayed together throughout the day… Over ourselves and our families and the families we were meeting with. Fasting in this manner is completely doable in the road.
Thank you Lord for your love, your faithfulness, your kindness over me and my life. Thank you for times of fasting. Your kindness and your mercy in my life are a beautiful mystery. I love you Lord.
