Four Days to Haiti!

Time is flying!

It is still hard to believe that this Friday my husband will be on a plane, headed for Haiti! Neither one of us have ever been to the Caribbean. I am excited for him and the team to travel to a new place, and gain a new perspective about what is happening in another part of our world. I am thankful for provision, for the prayers of the saints, and for able-bodied men and women to go out into the world and to do the work.

In building this duplex, the team will be able to help provide a protective shelter for two families. That means ten people will no longer be on the streets. Granted, there will still be hundreds of thousands of people on the streets – but every effort matters! This country is considered the poorest country in the America’s. The more we learn about Haiti, the heavier my heart becomes for the people of that country. I am turning that heaviness into prayer. Not just for the missionaries and teams headed over there in an effort to bless and rebuild – but for the people. The poverty, the sickness, the crime, the hundreds of thousands of people still on the streets in tent cities. There are many infectious diseases there and new and growing outbreaks of cholera and polio.  So much to be prayed over!

As my children and I have been working to gather information about Haiti – the culture, history and current events, my youngest daughter started saying things to people which caught me off guard. I quickly realized she had some underlying worry and she was verbalizing what she was thinking about. Of course, everyone around her began to try to bring comfort by speaking positively about how God would protect her Daddy and the team while they were there. I am believing for God’s protection as well.

Current Prayer Needs:

Please pray specifically for two members of the team, who just lost their father this past weekend. They are feeling deep sadness and need God’s great comfort.

Pray for health and safety of the team – including the food and water supply for the team.

Pray for continued financial provision.

Pray for protection from harm while travelling and while in Haiti.

Pray for ministry opportunities while they are there. Right now they will have the opportunity to do some prison ministry, and times of sharing the Gospel.

*We have a special surprise coming for my children tomorrow. We are very excited for this special delivery. This is going to be a huge blessing while Ben is in Haiti!! More to come after all is revealed tomorrow.
