Today is my son Jayden’s 10th birthday. He is a beautiful boy, full of energy and life, and energy, and humor, and energy!! He was disappointed at first that his birthday fell within the time frame of this fast. However, we followed our family tradition and let the birthday person choose the meals for the day. He did a wonderful job choosing…there were no complaints or frustrations shared. I was so proud of him. He was so happy and he had a wonderful birthday.
Our Menu For Jay’s special day:
Breakfast: Jay requested a non-GMO, locally produced tofu and potato scramble Lunch: Big green salad, with the left over tofu, fresh hummus, and salsa Dinner: Carrot pumpkin soup blended until creamy and seasoned with madras curry powder, cumin and coconut milk. Yum!! Jay said he thinks this is his favorite meal 🙂 Dessert: Blueberries, pear, and apples with a few tablespoons of honey, cooked on low heat and sprinkled with raw whole oats. Stirred together and served in small custard dishes with a splash of rice milk.
The morning was filled with craft activities, and games that he received as gifts. In the afternoon we went swimming at the beach. This is one of my favorite things to do, and Jayden loves to be outside anytime! Jayden climbed tress, hung out digging in the sand and floated on his boogie board. We all had a good time. After dinner, we played the game Clue, and then called it a night.
We prayed several times throughout the day asking God’s blessings over Jayden on his birthday. I made a little time to journal, but not the significant time that I should have spent. I enjoyed being with my family today. Tomorrow I will set aside more time for prayer, reading and journaling.
